Cinnamon Rolls 🤎🎞 can’t wait for y’all to try this recipe !

Few Tips:

  • For soft and risen cinnamon rolls, you should use all-purpose flour instead of bread flour. All-purpose flour has less gluten than bread flour, which will result in a softer texture.
  • Make sure that the yeast is active before you begin. You can do this by combining the yeast, warm water, and your sugar in a bowl and wait for it to bubble and foam. This will take about 10 minutes.
  • Kneading the dough is important to activate gluten and develop the structure of the dough. Using a Stand mixer or by hand, Knead the dough for at least 10-15 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  • If you find that your dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until you are satisfied with the texture. Remember climate, and altitude play a large part in how much flour you will need.
  • After kneading the dough, let it rest in a warm place for about an hour or until it doubles in size. This will allow the yeast to do its job and create air pockets in the dough.
  • One helpful tip to ensure your dough rises properly is to preheat your oven to 175°F, then turn it off. Once the oven is warm (make sure to allow your oven to cool down for about 10 mintues), cover your dough and place it inside to rise. This warm, draft-free environment will help to activate the yeast and allow the dough to rise to perfection.
  • Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Starting from the long end, tightly roll up the dough into a log, then cut the log into equal-sized pieces using dental floss, which I personally recommend over a knife because it creates a much cleaner cut and prevents the cinnamon rolls from being smushed down while cutting.
  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes. This will give them a chance to puff up and become even softer. You can also line your baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Soak them in heavy cream! Soaking cinnamon rolls in heavy cream is a game-changer. The cream lends a rich flavor that balances the sweetness of the cinnamon filling perfectly. Additionally, the fat in the cream helps to make the rolls fluffier and more tender, resulting in a delightful, airy texture. Finally, the cream combines with the cinnamon sugar filling to create an irresistible syrup that soaks into the rolls as they bake, making them incredibly moist and flavorful.

Cinnamon Rolls

Whether you enjoy them with a cup of coffee or a glass of milk, these cinnamon rolls are the ultimate treat for a cozy day in.

Ingredients

Yeast mixture:

  • 3/4 cup Lukewarm water
  • 2 1/2 tsp Active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp Sugar

Rest of your dough ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg whisked
  • 1 Egg yolk whisked
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt
  • 4 tbsp Unsalted butter melted

Filling:

  • 1/3 cup Unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1 cup Light brown sugar packed
  • 2 tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp Ground Cloves
  • 1/8 tsp Nutmeg

Frosting:

  • 4 oz Cream cheese room temp
  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter room temp
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup Powdered sugar sifted
  • Coffee creamer (I used French vanilla, but u can use any flavor you love!) add a tsp at a time until you’re happy with the consistency

Instructions

  • In a measuring cup or small bowl, combine the lukewarm water, active dry yeast, and 1 tbsp of sugar. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the remaining 1/3 cup of sugar, whisked eggs, all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and melted unsalted butter. Add in the yeast mixture last.
  • Mix the dough ingredients together with a wooden spoon until a rough dough forms.
  • If you find that your dough is too sticky, add a tablespoon of flour at a time until you are satisfied with the texture. Remember climate, and altitude play a large part in how much flour you will need.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth. You can also use a stand-mixer if you have one.
  • Place the dough in a lightly floured bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  • One helpful tip to ensure your dough rises properly is to preheat your oven to 175°F, then turn it off. Once the oven is warm, cover your dough and place it inside to rise. This warm, draft-free environment will help to activate the yeast and allow the dough to rise to perfection.
  • While the dough is resting, prepare the filling and frosting.
  • To make the filling, combine the room temperature unsalted butter, packed brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, and nutmeg until they form a spreadable mixture.
  • To make the frosting, combine the room temperature cream cheese, unsalted butter, vanilla extract, sifted powdered sugar, and coffee creamer (added gradually) until you achieve the desired consistency.
  • Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down gently and place it on a floured surface. Roll it out and spread the filling over the dough, making sure to roll it up as tightly as possible without stretching or tearing it.
  • Cut the cinnamon rolls with floss into either 2-inch sections for a batch of 6, or 1-inch to 1 1/2-inch sections to make about 8-12 cinnamon rolls. Place them in a prepared baking dish and cover them with a damp cloth. Let them rest for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Add a tablespoon of heavy cream on top of each cinnamon roll.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Once the cinnamon rolls are done, let them cool for a few minutes before topping them off with the frosting, and you're done!

Pretty legendary recipe not gonna lie. I bake a lot but everyone makes mistakes and I gotta tell y’a this recipe is dummy proof. Comes out the same each time. My only suggestion is go light on the sugar, they’re store bought level sweet and simple, with all the home fresh baked goodness and gratification that comes from making your own cinnamon buns from scratch.

Wish I could upload a picture here because they look so luscious! I’m planning on making them on a Sunday for an event on Tuesday, will they still taste and hold ok? Any advice would be appreciated!

  29. Hello! I was just wondering how you cut the cinnamon rolls with dental floss? I’ve watched a couple videos but i’m super confused. Also, would mint flavor affect the taste?

  30. This is hands down the best cinnamon roll recipe I’ve ever found. Following the recipe & your tips I make the most delicious & perfect cinnamon rolls everytime! I’m in love with them & so are my friends & family. I was asked to make two batches of them for a family members birthday & I was curious to know if doubling the dough will change the proof/rest time & by how much? Also just if you had any tips on how I should go about doing this! I was initially just going to make two batches start to finish but I’m worried that might be harder? Thank you so so much!!!

  31. Ive made this recipe numerous times and it is always a hit! Thank you so much Mariam! Thanks for sharing this with all of us 🙂

Hi! I’m obsessed with every recipe you make legit made me fall in love with cooking because of you!! I just had a question – is there any substitute we can use instead of heavy cream like is milk okay as well? Or should I just stick to nothing if I don’t have heavy cream ?

  42. 5 stars
I was hesitant to deviate from your old recipe because I didn’t think it could get better than that, but boy did you prove me wrong! This dough was so flawless, easy to work with, impossible to mess up, and everything came out perfectly! And of course, as before, your idea of putting coffee creamer in the icing is a game changer. Makes them pair perfectly with my morning coffee. 💖

First time leaving a review on a blog:

Took me about 4 times to get it right (errors on my part), but the fourth batch was super worth it!!! They were so soft and fluffy!!! I recommend kneading it by hand because when I used the machine it got quite dense.

  44. 5 stars
I’m very upset with you because why didn’t you warm me that this recipe could possibly turn me into the ‘designated cinnamon roll person’ for Holidays! 😭

If you haven’t made this or is scared to, DONT BE! Just make it! Doesn’t matter of you’ve never naked a day in your life the instructions are so simple and clear and you’ll realize the power you can hold with these babies!

  45. 5 stars
